Thohoyandou Road Trip

Thohoyandou, Limpopo

Now, i was born and bread in thohoyandou, limpopo in south africa. Thohoyandou is a small little town up north of south africa. Though small i figured there has to be stuff to do and see here right.

This is what happend!

Day 1
Got my travel partner (Linde) and we set off!

First stop was the newly build turning circle along the punda maria road. Thohoyandou means head of an elephant. And this master piece presents that.

Stop 2 was at Phiphidi Waterfall. Admin was R20 pp. Beautiful without doubt. The area is surrounded with local myths of people being "Swallowed" by the river and strange animals and disappearance. Get a local to tell you all about it when you get there!

Stop 3 was at a local Tea farm, it was a brief one. More for the view more than anything. Beautiful place it is!

Stop 4 was at local musiem called Dzata ruins. it show cases pieces of history of the vhavenda people. This area was the very first settelement built AD 1700. If your an inquisitive person, its all very interesting.
Entrance was free.

A great day indeed.

Day 2
Made a quick travel partner change, this time i was with Vele

The day was a simple day out on the safari, The Kruger National Park.
But first, breakfast at the local wimpy.

Then we were off - We used the punda maria gate, just about an hour from thohoyandou. We paid a conservation fee of R60 and were granted access to the park. Make sure you have plenty of fuel, there are no stations inside the park.

Unfortunately we went in during winter, in the dry season. None the less, it was spectecular!
Worth the drive!

We shot of for home at sunset, as the park closes at 6pm sharp!
The Limpopo is called Africa's Eden, as such the evening shots where breathe taking...
